Day 30 – 12/25/2021 Christmas Day Prayer

Day 30_25_presents_DSCF0144

Dear Lord,
This season allow us the gifts of discernment and understanding,
allow us to give the treasure of grace.

Give us the skills to Comfort In Place,
remind us to not forget those in a bad way.

Allow us to become part of your heart and your mind,
guide us to not leave a fellow human behind.

Remind us of who were we are and who we are to become,
inspire us to not leave our faith behind.

Don’t let us forget why you created us.

Amen.

With all their hopes and wishes answered,
the reunion of their comfort in place complete.

All the families and friends, animals and acquaintances,
making the spirit complete as all the little feet dances.

The smiles and laughs, all the joyous tossing of hats,
there is no way for the jubilation to go flat.

Of Christmas this year and comfort and such,
a neighborhood gathered means more and much.

Children screaming with delight,
the smiles on their parent indicating it’s just right.

The search for the season complete,
all creatures with smiles that looked so neat.

Comfort In Place.

Past the ice trees a celebration they did find,
with all the families of past that they did keep in mind.

All the creatures that passed through the crowd,
given happy greetings joyous and loud.

The Cardinals spiraled around all the noise,
all while watching the children play with their festival toys.

The friends in their memories never went away,
they just seemed to be hiding through their typical day.

Animals continues from the trees,
festival dancing creating a wonderful breeze.

Over a small lake the collected some more friends,
a small group of geese deciding to stay the winter.

A little frigid but happy they joined the search,
a chance to rejoin comfort and joy in a seasonal rebirth.

Continued travel over the frozen lake,
the growing group of friends could sense getting a break.

To a growing number of sounds from the shore,
they sped up to get closer to hear more.

Sprinkles of lights peaked through the forest,
coming closer to comfort and rest.

Day 26_21_sled_DSCF5949

Another sound of Christmas they heard,
looking at each other, not tweeting a word.

The sled came speeding down the trail,
woodland creatures chasing it’s tail.

Excitement building up,
overabundance of family laughter never enough.

Mr Cardinal, mate, bunny and all,
raced after the rest trying not to fall.

Through the village they flew and ran,
another trail their journey did span.

To their delight just outside their vision,
their friends pulling carriages appeared.

That means the families are near,
those groups of people the animals hold dear.

Mr Cardinal and mate flitted around,
just as their hearts pounded and pounded.

The day of comfort is near,
the place lacking of fear.

Day 24_19_cactus_DSCF0069

Just as they hoped it would,
their Christmas cactus bloomed as it should.

As they know friends on holidays,
rely on hope in many ways.

Family comes closer, like the beauty of a bloom,
for anger and irritance there is no room.

They know excitement will be soon,
as the colors of the season will loom.

Working away to make a wonderful day,
closing in so soon will be comfort to stay.

Day 23_feeder_DSCF0898

Circling their home right next to the hill,
seeings one of their old friends was such a thrill.

The search gang has expanded quite a bit,
on the ground were otters, geese, and rabbits.

All heard the joy of the children,
and knew the search had come to an end.

There was only one thing to know,
for such a long time … where did they all go?

The answer needing known,
to keep the comfort and joy or a wonderful season.

Although it’s not 100% the reason.

Day 22_snowyfield_DSC_2446

Arriving at a snowy field,
tracks of sleds showed someone having fun.

Looking down the hill to their favorite resting tree,
only old people did they see.

Confusion continued to set it,
this is where children should have been.

Hearing cheery cackling from afar,
maybe an answer to their wishes on a star.

A high pitched scream sped down the hill,
the friends recognized a kid named Bill.

The star above as plentiful as friends,
the soft glow of the galaxy goes to no end.

Comfort from the heavens so bright and thick,
it seems everything in the universe has one clique.

All of the families below ignored the starry show,
the solace of the place below could only come from above.

Circling back to their friends in tow,
the Cardinals landed in low.

They looked at each other,
“we still can’t find the families we know …”

Looking down at the icy reflections,
wishing hope and comfort for all.

The warmth in their hearts flying together,
if all else fails will make everything better.

Skies near and full of life,
all have some kind of strife.

Listening for old friends a start,
circling the winds they know they will never be apart.

Mr. Cardinal with his mate,
flying high over waves frozen in time.

Wondering if the comfort they had,
will return or just drive them mad.

A joke his mate did tweet,
made him think, “isn’t she sweet”.

A place with comfort alive,
laughter and warmth are it’s main drive.

Wings spread gliding ahead,
time to let the wind guide us ahead.

A puff of snow like a plush star,
a picture of comfort between friends they are.

To find a place where this will always be,
a paradise light you all will see.

Never forgetting those from past,
learned lessons teach relationships to last.

Studying from the current to set the future,
trying to make the past newer.

At a bright star they look,
to realize this time they took.

A group exiting from the church,
walked the river, one man with a slight lurch.

He looked at Mr. Cardinal and friends,
“those creatures look as if on a quest”.

A few tweets and squeaks from city’s tiny tenants,
made them almost look like they had human feelings.

Still flitting around looking for laughter,
the creatures made such a banter.

Looking for their small human friends,
they decided to continue around the bend.

The ruckus coming from the distant building,
joy from the structure not yielding.

Comfort in place glowed from this space,
maybe this group can slow down it’s race.

Finding a noise so full of light,
proves on the track they may be right.

Traveling slowly to the front,
their hopes turns into heavenly want.

The crashing of noises and voices become louder,
their hearts racing with emotions all the wilder.

Hopes for friends old and new,
comfort almost like a warm winter brew.

Peaking around the corner they did see ….

Hearing something that sounded like a family,
Mr. Cardinal and his friends romped joyously.

Maybe the friends we made last year,
were never lost but close and near.

Listening to the echoes down the road,
the sounds they were hearing they did not know.

Were they long time friends?,
oh, they wished they knew what was around the bend.

Remembering the past with warmth and love,
feeling like the sun shining from above.

A butterfly speeding around,
wishing well before finding a home in the ground.

Looking for the families he greeted in spring,
like Mr. Cardinal he did not find a thing.

Where are the friend, he asked Cardinal,
I don’t know, maybe scared away by the snow?

Wanting the comfort of friends before he sleeps,
butterfly showed his disappointment without a peep.

Way in the distance a brief sound was heard,
almost an incoherent blurb.

His wish coming true?

To the edge of a piece of wood he sped,
quickly flicking his feathers of red.

Not to far from the meet-up to be,
at the waters edge a frozen bee was seen.

The jittery buzz Mr. Cardinal heard,
almost in a whisper bee spoke his word.

All the children walked past here, he said,
wondering if they missed past years friends.

I’m a little cold, said bee, as he shivered and shaked,
I need to find weather a little more towards baked.

After hearing the sound of a friendly clippity-clop,
Mr. Cardinal, right into a mane, did a mighty plop.

Where are the children you normally carry,
the ones that are usually so merry?

The ones on the sides waiting for candy,
I remember a red-haired one named Mandy.

We don’t know, said the one horse,
the other looking to the side with a little remorse.

Last year we went down another street,
maybe no one told them where to meet.

Circling over the frozen near the stream,
Mr. Cardinal, mate at his side, did gleam.

An unintended family filled with comfort,
waving to their new friends flying over the river port.

Looking at the snowy landscape,
a search for beauty he did not have to wait.

Still aware listening for laughter,
for more signs of comfort he did search.

was now diminished and did abate.

Comfort of his loved one now safe,
new friends he did make.

The start of an unintended family,
this day did occur with a light breeze of destiny.

A lone river otter next to a frog,
who seemed cold enough to start digging into a bog.

Otter saw the flash of feathers,
down the river not for the better.

Otter whisked Mr. Cardinal’s mate to the side,
off to safety just in time.

Freddy frog who was scared off of his log,
said to Otter, I’m glad things didn’t go wrong.

To Cardinal he bid farewell,
time to dig below the bog for a winter long.

Staring at a dandelion clock,
he noticed a sight that gave him a slight shock.

A fluttering in rush,
in the little stream next to the brush.

His mate had fallen being pushed along,
flowing down the water something had gone wrong.

One the side fallen leaves exploded,
exposing the ground that long a go eroded.

Speeding up the water,
pushing through the pile of his fodder.

In a blur of fur,
his mate was safely pushed to the side.

maybe his wishes to be met.

A glow, even dim,
may give rise to a joyous sound.

Listening for a peep,
Mr. Cardinal notices none.

The frozen beauty ahead,
inspires many to stay in bed.

But a cold cannot be warmed,

wondering what will make this year’s yield.

Family in tow,
while I watch everyone grow.

Wondering if the they live,
will be better than the one I give.

Will what I teach my flock,
make our neighborhood a much better block?

Will they help those in need,
will they help grow the field for those with no yield?

With my eyes I see home and friends,
I see this just flying round the bend.

I wish what I discovered was closer,
not so far away to seem alone.

My mate that never strays,
keeps my desire for this.

But with gleam in my eyes I need more,
to keep my seasonal discovery adored.

I glide this day … wanting to stay,
but my mate pulls me with the wind another way.
